Moshe'el' Story

Rav Pakad (Major) Moshe'el Shlomo dedicated his life to protecting Israel with unmatched courage and compassion. Raised in a low-income area, Moshe'el chose a path of discipline and purpose, avoiding the challenges around him and reaching remarkable heights in his career. He was accepted into the Paratroopers Reconnaissance Unit, "Sayeret Zanchanim," where he graduated with honors, remembered by his squad as the strongest and most exceptional soldier among them. Later, Moshe'el was one of only two soldiers selected to join the elite reserve unit of the Paratroopers, a prestigious role that allowed him to continue serving his country at the highest level.

After his discharge, Moshe'el’s dedication didn’t end. He joined the Yamam, Israel's most elite police unit, where he was chosen to serve in the rappelling unit. Moshe'el quickly rose through the ranks, becoming the youngest commander in Yamam's history. Known for his bravery, he often led his team into the toughest situations, clearing dangerous areas himself to protect his soldiers.

Moshe'el and his wife, Shahar, had recently moved to Kibbutz Gezer, excited to build their future together. But on October 7, 2023, Moshe'el answered his final call to duty. At 6:30 AM, Moshe'el made the decision to head south to save lives. Despite being asked by the head of the Yamam to wait for a helicopter, Moshe'el recalled a past operation where delays had led to people being hurt. Determined not to let history repeat itself, he packed his car with soldiers from his unit and drove south, intent on saving as many people as possible.

As they approached, they learned of the larger threat, including ambushes and RPGs. Near an intersection where hostages were tied as bait, Moshe'el and his team fell into an ambush. Though critically wounded, Moshe'el managed to alert his unit to the danger. Later, when a doctor arrived, Moshe'el still fought to survive but ultimately succumbed to his injuries. May his soul rest in peace.

Even in his final years, Moshe'el’s compassion shone brightly. He started a project rappelling down hospital walls in costume to bring joy to hospitalized children, an act that touched the hearts of many and received national news coverage.

In his honor, we invite you to help us build a climbing park in Ramle, the city where Moshe'el grew up. This park will be a place of resilience, joy, and growth for children, embodying Moshe'el's legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication.
